This is not a good development. It should be noted that until early May 2017, Gina Lopez was still the DENR Secretary. Her appointment was finally rejected by the Commission on Appointments on May 03. So Lopez and her team deliberately sat on the ECC application of an open pit mine.
It has been two months since new DENR Secretary Roy Cimatu assumed leadership but it seems that there were no significant pronouncements reversing the jurassic policies of Ms. Lopez. Is Mr. Cimatu still on a steep learning curve of the industry?
